    High-quality services will be provided to patients with rare diseases in Gyeonggi-do based on
    the clinic operating system and experience of treating and researching rare diseases for more than 20 years.

Ajou University Hospital established the Genetics Clinic for the first time in Korea when the hospital was established in 1994, and various rare diseases such as chromosomal abnormalities, congenital malformations, and lysosomal storage disorders have been diagnosed and treated in collaboration with the Clinical Genetics Lab, Medical Genetics Lab, and related departments. Based on this experience, the Rare Disease Center is providing high-quality medical services to Southern Gyeonggi residents with rare diseases, training professional medical personnel for rare diseases, and strengthening the access and convenience of patients by establishing a regional treatment collaboration system. Based on the clinic operating system and experience of treating and researching rare diseases for more than 20 years, we aim to provide accurate treatment (accurate diagnosis, progress and burden of diseases, delivery of information on recurrence risks).

Duties of the Rare Disease Center
- Operation and counseling of the specialized genetics clinic
- Accurate diagnosis, treatment and delivery of information for rare genetic diseases through clinical genetic tests
- High-quality medical services through collaboration with related departments
- Establishment of rare disease patient registration and management system in Southern Gyeonggi region
- Provision of accessibility and convenience to patients through rare disease specialized medical personnel and establishment of regional treatment collaboration system
- Education programs and self-help gatherings for patients and guardians
