1. Application

After filling out and submitting the treatment request form to the screening center (emergency administration window), receive and submit the ER application to the nurse at the new patient zone.

2. Triage

  • The emergency medicine doctor or nurse performs triage using the Korean Triage and Acuity Scale (KTAS) according to the symptoms and vital signs.
  • Required emergency treatments may be performed at the same time depending on the patient's condition.
  • The treatment zone is determined for hospitalization according to the KTAS grade.

3. Treatment

  • According to the Korean Triage and Acuity Scale (KTAS) grade, the emergency medicine doctor in charge of the treatment zone starts the treatment.
  • Emergency medicine specialists and pediatric emergency specialists are stationed 24 hours a day at the Emergency Medical Center, and the priority of treatments is determined for emergency patients with high triage regardless of the time of application.
  • Examinations, tests, and treatments may be performed while administering the required emergency treatments depending on the patient’s condition.
  • For cases wherein specialized treatment is required according to the examination and test results, collaborative treatment is requested to the relevant department. If collaborative treatment is required, more time may be required for treatment.

4. Hospitalization

If hospital treatment or emergency surgery is required, the hospitalization decision is issued, and the hospital room is assigned after filling out the hospitalization agreement form and required documents at the administration team (emergency administration window).

5. Discharge, transfer

  • After the treatment is complete, discharge is possible or other treatments can be received through transfer to the proper medical institution following the nurse's guidance.
  • If transfer to another medical institution is required, please request the nurse to issue copies of the doctor's note and test results.

Notification of emergency medical expenses

  • According to Article 2 of the Emergency Medical Services Act and Enforcement Rules, all patients visiting the ER must pay emergency medical management fees.
  • Patients not showing emergency symptoms are classified as non-emergency cases, and all expenses are claimed by personal payment.
  • The rate of personal payment of treatment fees may vary depending on the Korean Triage and Acuity Scale (KTAS), ER bed assignment, and final treatment results.
