The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department is aiding in the rehabilitation of patients in diverse ways such as drug treatment, exercise therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, cognitive rehabilitation therapy, etc.

The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department treats temporary or permanent disabilities due to various disasters or diseases such as traffic accidents, industrial accidents, and aftereffects due to adult diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and cancer. The purpose of rehabilitation medicine is to minimize disabilities through rehabilitation programs even if the patient has an irreversible permanent disability and maximize the remaining ability to help patients live socially independent and humane lives.

In order to fulfill such purpose of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department at Ajou University Hospital, rehabilitation treatments are not solely performed by doctors but done by the composed of doctors, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, clinical psychologists, nutritionists, and social workers. The rehabilitation treatment team comprehensively evaluates the physical, mental, and social disabilities of patients with the goal of overcoming the disability and eventually returning to the closest state before the disability occurred and returning to their family and society.
