The Comprehensive Care Center for Osteoarthritis, which professionally treats patients with cartilage damages, is operated by applying various treatments and new diagnoses for cartilage restoration possessed by the Orthopedic Surgery Department of Ajou University Hospital.

Accurate diagnosis and treatment methods for cartilage damages including osteoarthritis are not standardized. Actually, radiography that is used to diagnose arthritis shows varying test results depending on the location of radiography, and cartilage damage can be found only if the cartilage is somewhat peeled off even through MRI images.

In order to overcome this limitation, the Comprehensive Care Center for Osteoarthritis attaches an in-house auxiliary device for the imaging of the knees to guide accurate diagnosis, and the amount of collagen as a component of cartilage is measured if imaged with MRI to check the initial status of arthritis. In addition, a comprehensive disease control system is established and operated for patients for autonomous management by providing systematic and constant education and information.
