The Brain Disease Research Center (BDRC) at Ajou University Hospital was designated as outstanding research institute by the Ministry of Health and Welfare for the first time in Korea in the brain disease field in 1998, and world-class brain disease research including Parkinson's disease was conducted in the degenerative brain disease field. Such background has become the basis for newly establishing and properly operating the Parkinson Center within Ajou University Hospital for the first time in Gyeonggi-do in 2016.

The Parkinson Center provides professional outpatient and hospital treatments in a one-stop manner for various dyskinesia symptoms including Parkinson's disease, ataxia, tremor, etc. With the patient-centered treatment system, drug treatment, botox treatment, and deep brain stimulation surgery are systematically performed for movement disorders. Professor Yoon, Jung-han at the Neurology Department is in charge of initial diagnosis and drug and botox treatment for abnormal movement diseases including Parkinson's disease, and Professor Ahn Young-hwan at the Neurosurgery Department (Head of Parkinson Center) is in charge when surgical treatment is required.

In addition, health classes on Parkinson's disease are opened every year to provide patients and guardians who have received or who plan drug treatment the opportunity to understand the progress of Parkinson's disease treatment.

Management of degenerative brain diseases is a significant issue given the constantly increasing human lifespan and aging population. Degenerative brain diseases require consistent management instead of complete recovery through short-term treatment. As the foothold hospital of Southern Gyeonggi for integrated and systematic services of drug treatment, surgical treatment, and post-operational management for abnormal movement diseases such as Parkinson's disease, Ajou University Hospital is treating Parkinson's disease by operating the center system.
